Officials discovered the latest infection at a Pocheon-area farm housing 8,800 pigs, located north of Seoul, the nation's capital, media reported, referencing the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters.
The Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters announced that authorities will eliminate infected animals to contain viral transmission, though officials confirmed no nationwide standstill directive for pig farming operations is currently planned.
The country identified its initial 2026 case earlier this month in Gangneung, with subsequent detections emerging in Anseong and Pocheon, both situated within Gyeonggi Province.
The disease poses zero risk to human health but spreads rapidly among pigs and wild boar populations, proving lethal to infected animals.
